Jewelry Care

How to take care of your jewelry

GENERAL CARE TIPS

  1. Remove jewellery when showering or bathing. This is particularly important when on the beach, in the sea and in chlorinated water.
  2. Avoid wearing jewellery when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise.
  3. Never expose jewellery to household cleaning products, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions.
  4. Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray on the gemstones or pearls as it jeopardizes the integrity of the material.
  5. Remove jewellery when applying make-up, creams to avoid the residue getting into the texture or gemstone setting.
Any residue dulls the shine of your ring.
  6. Keep away from extreme temperatures and humidity.

BRASS

Brass does not like getting wet, oils and sweat may tarnish it quicker. To clean brass, try a mixture of lemon juice, baking powder, and water. Grab a dollop with a toothbrush and gently go over your brass jewelry, be careful not to use it on your crystal or gemstone. If the jewellery does not have any stones in it, you may also use brass cleaner follow by a jewellery polishing cloth to make it shine.

Why does my skin turn green or black when wearing brass?

Depending on your body chemistry, brass may leave a tint to be left behind on the skin. You can seal your jewelry (where it contacts your skin) with any clear nail polish or clear Rustoleum to prevent this from happening. Reapply as needed.

SILVER

Silver jewelry oxidises naturally with air and humidity.
Occasional cleaning with a special cloth will keep the silver shiny and remove the oxidation.
In order to best avoid oxidation, keep your silver jewelry in a closed bag that is protected from the air.

GOLD

Gold  jewelry must avoid exposure to abrasive solutions and chemicals as they may discolour your precious metal jewelry. For general cleaning, please only use specifically formulated cleaning solution/cream for Gold.
